About me

I’m Taylor, and I live in Austin, Texas. I got my first silken and best boy, Rudie, from Rick Carr and Kent Jones in 2024, and have since jumped into the dog hobby with both feet.

I am a contributing member of the International Silken Windhound Society (ISWS) and the Silken Windhound Club of America (SWHCOA). I am also involved in Gazehounds in Texas, a racing club based in North Texas. I am also a moderator and active member of the Sighthound Social Club of Austin, which hosts periodic meetups around town.

I enjoy meeting and getting to know other people in the dog fancy, both old hands with lots of experience and new folks with lots of enthusiasm.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (Southwestern University, 2009) and English, and a Master’s degree in Biology (TCU, 2013). I worked for many years in environmental regulation and compliance, mainly in air emissions, on both the private-sector and government sides, before switching gears and attending nursing school. I’ve also worked as a technical editor of scientific journal articles and for a little while as a field ecologist.

When I’m not doing dog stuff, I’m probably hiking, listening to audiobooks, or doing both at once. I also do art sometimes—you can find some of my work in the Art Portfolio section of this webpage.
