Scout is a fun, loving, happy, and energetic girl who has been a fantastic addition to our little pack. She is always quick to start a game of chase or a brawl. She is very expressive, and her markings mean she can have an elegant countenance or look like you glued googly eyes to her face.
At a year old, Scout is a balanced young dog with a beautiful singletrack trot without any extraneous motion. She also has nice width and excellent chest fill, a relatively rare virtue in the breed.
At five months old, Scout was awarded Best Opposite Puppy in Specialty at the 2025 SWTT TexFest in Magnolia, Texas, under Judge Joao Machado. At 11 months old, she won the competitive 9–12 month bitches class at the SWARM Windhound Hoedown in Utah under Judge Sharon Johnson.
Scout has lure drive, and I look forward to her debut in LGRA this fall. She also enjoys lure coursing and qualified to compete in AKC lure coursing at the Alamo Area Whippet Club trial in Comfort, Texas, in October 2026.
Scout is food-motivated and happy to work, though she doesn’t tolerate as much frustration as Rudie, so I have to work hard to keep training fun and make sure she’s “winning.” She has enjoyed nosework classes so far. She is around 22″ tall as measured multiple times by third parties at the 2026 SWARM height station.
At home, Scout is fun and easy to live with. She loves to cuddle next to you on the couch and is never far. She is equally friendly with strange dogs and people. Like Rudie, Scout has shown prey drive toward small animals but is sweet and loving toward my two housecats.
